Waste of money after 4 months!
By DeeDee from Salem, MA on 12/20/2008

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Although the pillow was expensive, I bought it for my husband, hoping I would get a good night sleep. For the first 3 to 4 months, it was heavenly. He slept well, and did not snore at all. Then, gradually, he began to go back to snoring nightly and I noticed the pillow had compressed a great deal where his head lies, eventually being almost flat. I even tried to refill it with pillow stuffing, but he said it was now very uncomfortable and his snoring continued as much as ever. It recently went out with our trash. Did not live up to its claims, which seemed to good to be true.

We had tried everything..this is the only thing that works to stop snoring ! The first night that I used it, my husband and I woke up and could not believe the clock read 6:10 am and that neither of us had found it necessary to wake the other during the entire night. What a wonderful discovery and we are getting the best sleep we have had in a very long time....both the snorer and the bedmate!! Gave one to a friend and his wife called to tell us that "we had saved their marriage bed!"

My husband tried several "gimmicks" to stop snoring. One was an expensive but very uncomfortable mouth appliance. I usually love Brookstone (bought my memory foam pillow there)and thought this product looked promising. He's used it three weeks. (They say give it two). It's somewhat effective...reduces the snore to loud breathing... but he rolls off and the snoring begins. The blue & white material has bled onto the pillow and pillow case and didn't come off the pillow case in the wash. I have to store it in the closet because it's bulky doesn't look nice with high-end bedding...In fact I wouldn't recommend it if you sleep in a queen or smaller. He manages to hit me in the head with it while sleeping because it's so bulky. It cost [$]. That's a lot for a non-returnable product that doesn't seem to work. He says it isn't very comfortable if you like the freedom of switching sleeping positions. I should know better than to buy something that can't be returned...We just had a lot of hope for this!

Even after the "break-in" period, this pillow remains uncomfortable. It is very bulky, my head is on such an angle, I wake up with a neck ache. I gave the pillow to my husband and he also said the same thing. Very uncomfortable and too bulky. Also, pillow cases are very expensive - 1 is not enough. Waste of money. After reading such rave reviews, I thought I finally found a pillow - very disappointed.

I was skeptical. In fact, when I tried to use it with my arm over my head as the picture described, my arm fell asleep long before I did. So I adapted my position to not have my arm over my head and it still worked fine. It took a little while to get used to it, but after the first night, I'm hooked. Work with it, make it work for you. There were no instructions and I had to just figure out how it would work for me. My spouse is so grateful!

I have had this pillow for a year and it does help with the snoring and my sleep apnea. My only complaint is that it is too large for me. I am a small woman and the pillow would work better for me if it were scaled down.

Not everyone with sleep apnea is a large man.

The way you have to sleep with this pillow, you can do with any pillow. You have to hold your arm above your head, on you side. Well most beds have head boards, so where does your arm go? Plus, the pillow is thick, causing neck pain.

We bought the first pillow because my wife's snoring was interfering with my ability to get a good night's sleep. After three nights, she was encouraging me to try it. Very quickly, we decided to purchase the second one. The only problem was how to tell them apart. My wife embroidered each of our initials on our pillows and we use different color king-size pillow cases so that we will not get them confused. It took some time to convince ourselves that we should spend this much money on a pillow. Now we are glad we did.

My wife, who is a physician, suggested I try the Sona pillow after I found using a CPAP for moderate sleep apnea simply unbearable. I was skeptical, given that the sleep meds people I had seen had never suggested it and told me the only alternatives were CPAP or surgery, but to my amazement the pillow gave me the first decent, non-snoring night sleep I have had in years. I have been using it now for about six weeks and both my wife and I are delighted--she says I no longer snore and I feel like I am getting a good night's sleep. The only drawback is that the pillow is very firm and it takes some getting used to--but much less than the dreaded CPAP! I would hope that the manufacturers can come up with a stuffing that is a little kinder on the neck and cheeks.

I ordered the sona pillow b/c my husband says I snore terribly. I've gone for a sleep apnea test, but it came back negative. He thought I still needed something to help with the snoring and I can't stand to have the snore strips on my nose, so I ordered the pillow.

I have been a snorer for years. At the time Dr. Zuberi was designing pillow I was a drug rep calling on him. He told me about it and how it could help me. I could not wait until it reached market yet when it did being busy I waited months to get one. Opting instead for my wife to wear ear plugs. Well the ear plugs are gone now and i have a ton more energy because I am sleeping better with my mild sleep apneia. i had no idea how much snoring and disrupting my sleep was affecting me. Thank you Dr. Zuberi and Brookstone.

I bought this for my husband and it really stopped the snoring and sleep apnea. His only complaint is that he doesn't like pillows that are that big and his neck needs to get used to it. I can finally sleep without earplugs again.

My wife encouraged the purchase of the Sona Pillow and it worked great for the first three nights - then I learned how to snore with it. HOWEVER, I am not snoring as much nor as loud as I was before I got the pillow.
The pillow is very comfortable and seems to be well suited for persons, such as myself, that sleep on their side with an arm up under it.

First Sona pillow worked great for about a year. Hubby underwent many expensive tests. Next step is sleep study and on to a mask. UGh. BUT, got hubby to buy a new Sona AND now no snoring!!!!!! Pillows wear out, that's a given. The Sona is pricey but cheaper than the medical alternatives!!!! As a mate of a snorer, I will buy hubby the Sona annually because I like sleeping.
